Greetings and salutations! We are just back from a trip to New Orleans and southern Louisiana. It was wonderful! We heard fantastic music. We went to Preservation Hall and heard classic New Orleans jazz, Tipitina’s and heard the greatest Cajun music-Bruce Daigrepont, Chickie Wah Wah for Anders Osborne, John Sansone and John Fohl and to d.b.a to listen in awe to Jon Cleary. There was music everywhere, some of the best was what people were playing on the street. I got lots of ideas for new songs that we are doing.
We also ate some great food, Muffulettas, Po-Boys on Magazine, fantastic oysters and fish and of course gumbo. It is a good thing we did a lot of walking or I would have gained 10 pounds.
There were fantastic sights to see. We ran all over New Orleans, went on a swamp tour down in Barataria, drove across the Atchafalaya Basin, an enormous Cypress swamp and went to Cajun country, towns like Breaux Bridge, St. Martinsville, Crowley and Eunice. |

The best thing about the whole trip was the wonderful people we met. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. Maybe because things move a little slower there nobody seemed like they were in a hurry to get to something else and were happy to talk and listen. The best was a lovely lady in Crowley, Mary Nell Duhon a beautiful French Acadian who had us in for lunch and a fascinating visit.
I hope you can come out and see us soon and I can share more about our trip if you are interested. I know we will have some new music for you because of it.
